Relationship Therapy

Understanding Patterns, Healing Wounds & Transforming the Way You Relate

Relationship Therapy is designed for individuals or couples who want deeper insight into relational patterns, emotional triggers, and the underlying issues affecting closeness, communication and trust.

Where couples counselling focuses on the relationship as a whole, relationship therapy also explores the personal beliefs, history and emotional responses that shape how each person relates to others.

This deeper work helps clients understand themselves, their partner, and the dynamics they are creating together.

When Relationship Therapy May Be Needed

Relationship therapy may be the right approach if you or your partner struggle with:

  • Long-standing patterns that repeat across different relationships
  • Emotional reactivity, shutdown, anger or avoidance
  • Difficulty expressing needs or setting healthy boundaries
  • Attachment wounds or unprocessed relationship trauma
  • Feeling unseen, unheard or not good enough
  • High conflict, criticism or defensiveness
  • Trust issues, jealousy or insecurity
  • Loss of emotional connection or intimacy
  • Uncertainty about continuing the relationship
  • Stress, anxiety or life transitions impacting the relationship

This work supports both the relationship and the individual.

How Relationship Therapy Works

Relationship therapy explores both the present and the past to understand:

  • Why certain patterns keep showing up
  • How emotional wounds or past experiences influence current behaviour
  • The deeper needs that are not being met
  • The triggers that create distance, conflict or shutdown
  • How each person can take responsibility for their own patterns
  • What the relationship needs to thrive

Sessions focus on developing emotional awareness, empathy, communication, and healthier ways of relating—so both partners feel valued, understood and supported.

My Therapeutic Approach

As a trained Relationship Therapist, I work gently and collaboratively, creating a safe environment where difficult topics can be explored without judgement.
My approach may include:

  • Evidence-based relationship models
  • Emotional regulation and communication skills
  • Attachment-based strategies
  • Trauma-informed practices
  • Practical tools to implement between sessions

The goal is not to assign blame, but to understand the deeper patterns that prevent connection—and create space for healthier, more fulfilling relationships.

A Supportive Space for Every Stage of a Relationship

Relationship therapy is beneficial whether you are:

  • Beginning a new relationship
  • Navigating life transitions
  • Healing past hurts
  • Wanting to strengthen or rebuild connection
  • Considering separation
  • Working through the emotional impact of divorce

Every relationship has the potential for growth, healing and deeper connection when the right guidance and support is available.

Customer Feedback

After watching my mother (although sixty, still young and vibrant) die with cancer within weeks of being diagnosed, I was at a point in my life of overwhelming sadness and confusion and I knew that I had to do something to help myself climb out of the depression into which I had sunk. I remembered a leaflet which I had picked up some months earlier and I found Rose’s Holistic Life Coaching information calling out to me, so I called and made an appointment.

Since commencing coaching with Rose I haven’t looked back. Rose has provided me with the tools and guidance to help me through this low point and I can now look forward to making the rest of my life all that I want it to be. With that knowledge I couldn’t be happier. Thank you so much Rose.”

Rose has been a very helpful during our recent marriage break-up, resulting in an amicable and financially affordable outcome through a mediation process

Rose has been a very helpful and positive part during the unpleasant experience of our recent marriage break-up. She was caring, respectful and understanding of both our points of view. It was important to have an independent and impartial shared counsellor to guide and reassure us through such a difficult time.

Her experience, advice and calmness was largely responsible for resulting in an amicable and financially affordable outcome through a mediation process.
